It should only be used in the hands of a suitably trained medical person and may reduce brain swelling and other symptoms which may develop at high altitude.

A PRIVATE PRESCRIPTION IS REQUIRED FOR SUPPLY OF THIS PREPARATION. Metronidazole ia an antimicrobial drug with high activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. For the traveller it may be prescribed in cases of protozoal infection, and is the drug of choice for acute invasive amoebic dysentry.
