Metronidazole ia an antimicrobial drug with high activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
For the traveller it may be prescribed in cases of protozoal infection, and is the drug of choice for acute invasive amoebic dysentry. The usual dose would be 800mg ( two tablets ) three times a day for approximately 5 days.
