PRIVATE PRESCRIPTION:

This is a 4-quinolone antibiotic sometimes prescribed in cases of an acute attack of travellers diarrhoea. If the diarrhoea is caused by enteric bacterial infection a dose of up to 500mg ciprofloxacin twice daily may be prescribed. It is usually recommended however that the traveller seek expert medical advice as soon as possible.
