UK Vaccine Shortages
Across the UK there are currently some major vaccine shortages which are causing disruption for patients wishing to have NHS or private vaccinations.
Uh-oh, vaccine shortages! You may think that vaccines are only given by your GP at the local GP surgery but you are incorrect! Many pharmacies and private clinics provide vaccines and people use these clinics because not all vaccines are available from your GP and for some people the convenience of a private clinic/pharmacy is more important.
Unfortunately, our partner sites Manor Pharmacy and Peak Pharmacy are currently suffering the same issues others are but recent steps which we are putting in place should help minimise disruption for our customers in the future.
Current shortages though across all markets are causing issues. The latest update can be found below:
Adult – Supplies unlikely to return before 2018
Paediatric – May be available again by the end of October (fingers crossed)
Adult – There is limited amounts of MSD’s HBVaxPro available but normal supplies are not set to return till late 2017, possibly 2018
Paediatric – Likely to be shortages through 2017.
Combined Hepatitis A and Typhoid
Adult – Limited stock may return during October but it is likely to be 2018 before the situation settles.
Stocks of Typhim vaccine are currently normal.
Stocks of Rabipur are currently normal – other brands are unavailable or restricted currently
Limited amounts of polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine are available
Varicella Zoster vaccine
Currently available in limited amounts
Diphtheria, tetanus and poliomyelitis (inactivated) vaccine
Limited stock, availability for travellers is likely to be limited in the near future
