Original Bonjela contains choline salicylate (an anti-inflammatory) and cetalkonium chloride (an antiseptic). A traditional formula used to treat oral sores for many years. In the UK Bonjela original is no longer sold for teething. This is due to salicylates contained in Bonjela Original, now called Adult linked to a rare disease called Reyes syndrome.
