The original Malarone anti-malaria tablets manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Whilst there have been many generic equivalents, Malarone remains as popular as ever, and at Travelpharm we work hard to ensure our prices are the cheapest in the UK.
Every year hundreds of travellers from the UK catch malaria due to not taking the proper precautions. Therefore it is essential that you check whether you need to take malaria tablets for the country you plan to visit. You need to start taking Malarone tablets, ideally, 2 days before you enter the malaria area, every day you are in the risk area and for 7 days after you have left.
Symptoms of malaria are similar to flu, including fever, chills, backache, joint pain, headaches, vomiting & diarrhoea. These symptoms can start to develop a week up to a year after being bitten, so it is important to visit a doctor if you start to develop these symptoms, even when you are back home. Whilst most cases of malaria present with a few weeks, some can take up to a year to develop!
Like all anti-malaria tablets, even though Malarone can protect and treat malaria, they are not 100% effective against the disease. It is also important to take other precautions to avoid being bitten by insects.

Most patients suffer very few side effects from Malarone. Your typical patient may get an upset stomach, and potentially a slight headache. This affects around 1 in 10. 1 in 100 patients may get allergic reactions, sleep issues, a cough, or a rash. It is very unlikely less than 1 in 1000 to suffer any other issues. If your curious though you can check out the patient leaflet at the EMC website for more information and always read the patient information leaflet before taking any prescription medicines.
If you have already obtained a prescription for Malarone from your GP, you will be able to order your Malarone tablets and send your prescription in via the post. When we receive your prescription we will dispense your tablets and send them out to you via the postage method you choose.
If you don't have a prescription for your malaria tablets, then you will need to fill in our online consultation. Simply choose the number of tablets you require, then add them to your basket. You will then be lead through a series of medical questions. Your answers will be checked by one of our registered pharmacists. If there are no problems with your order, your items will be dispensed from our UK pharmacy and sent out in the post. Easy.
