Chloralieve is indicated for the local relief of symptoms of sore throat in adults and children over the age of 12.

What causes a sore throat?

Sore throats are usually caused by viruses like cold or flu or even from smoking. Very occasionally they can be caused by bacteria.

A sore throat can also be caused by:

  • Laryngitis.
  • Tonsillitis.
  • Strep throat (a bacterial throat infection)
  • Glandular Fever.

Can Chloralieve be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

It is not advised to use Chloralieve lozenges during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.

Who is Chloralieve suitable for?

Chloralieve lozenges are suitable for anyone over the age of 12 who are wanting an effective relief against a painful throat.

Who is Chloralieve not suitable for?

do not take Chloralieve if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients listed below.
  • You are under the age of 12.

It is advised to consult your doctor before taking this if:

  • You suffer with asthma.
  • Your symptoms do not improve after two days or if you have a fever, headaches, nausea, vomiting or skin rash.

Directions for use

Adults and children over 12 years of age: dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2 – 3 hours, up to a maximum of 8 lozenges over 24 hours.

Do not dissolve in the sack of the cheek.

Contains

Lidocaine Hydrochloride, Amylmetacresol, Dichlorobenzyl Alcohol, Mint Oil, Partly Dementholised, Star Anise Oil, Levomenthol, Indigo Saccharin (E-954), Tartaric Acid (E-334), Sucrose, Liquid Glucose.

Side effects

Like all medicinal products Chloralieve does have side effects however not everyone will experience them.

Stop taking Chloralieve immediately and contact your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Swollen face, tongue, or pharynx.
  • Difficulty swallowing.
  • Hives and difficulty in breathing.

Warning

Do not give to children under the age of 12.

Do not dissolve in the sack of the cheek.

Do not take this medicine before meals or before drinking.

Not to be used for more than 5 days unless advised by the doctor.
