Covonia Medicated Sore Throat has a dual action which helps to fight infection and also numbs the pain associated in your throat.
Symptoms of a sore throat
- Painful throat, especially when swallowing.
- A dry, scratchy throat.
- Redness in the back of your mouth.
- Bad breath.
- A mild cough.
- Swollen neck glands.
The symptoms are similar for children, but children can also get a temperature and appear less active.
What causes a sore throat?
Sore throats are usually caused by a virus (like cold or flu), or from smoking. Very occasionally though they can be caused by bacteria.
A sore throat can also be caused by:
- Laryngitis.
- Tonsillitis.
- Strep throat (a bacterial throat infection).
- Glandular fever.
Can it be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or our pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Who is it suitable for?
Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges are suitable for adults and children over the age of 12 who are suffering with a sore throat.
Direction for use
Children from 12 years old: 3 to 5 lozenges per day.
Adults: 6 to 10 lozenges per day.
Allow the lozenges to melt in the mouth slowly.
Who is it not suitable for?
Do not use this medicine if:
- You are under 12.
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Your child has a history of convulsions.
- You have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars.
- You have an allergy to any of the ingredients listed below.
Contains
Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride 5mg, Lidocaine Hydrochloride 1mg, Sorbitol (E420), Magnesium Stearate, Aspartame (E951), Lemon Flavour, Acesulfame K (E950)
Side effects
Like all medicines, Covonia Lozenges can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
- Allergic reaction.
- Brown colouring of the teeth, however this is easy to remove.
