What is Drapolene Cream?

Drapolene Cream is a barrier cream containing a unique antiseptic formula which helps to treat the rash, soothe the rash, protect the skin and also helps to prevent against nappy rash.

Drapolene can also be used for the relief of urinary dermatitis in adults, and as an adjunct to patient care hygiene for the prevention of urinary dermatitis.

It is also indicated for the symptomatic relief of minor burns, limited sunburn and the effects of weather.

What causes nappy rash?

Nappy rash is a skin irritation where under the nappy becomes red, sore and some of the times it may become spotty.

This can sometimes be extremely uncomfortable for babies especially during changing times and can make your baby cry and be more irritable than usual as they feel uncomfortable.

Nappy rash is a very common skin condition that majority of babies will suffer from at some point whilst wearing nappies.

Wearing a nappy is not the only trigger which may cause your baby to have nappy rash below is a list of what could cause this:

  • Having a cold.
  • Teething.
  • Diarrhoea.
  • Changing from breast milk to formula.
  • Sleeping through the night.
  • Weaning onto solids.

How will Drapolene help?

Nappy rash can be easily treated with Drapolene Cream as it contains a unique effective antiseptic formulation which helps to treat the rash whilst soothing and reducing redness, also forming a protective barrier to help protect your baby’s skin from external irritants.

Who is Drapolene suitable for?

Drapolene is suitable to be used on babies and also adults.

Method of administration:

Babies: the nappy area should be washed then dried thoroughly at each change of nappy. Drapolene Cream should be applied, paying particular attention to folds in the skin.

Adults: the affected area (or the area of application) should be washed and dried thoroughly before applying Drapolene. Regular routine application is advised.

What does Drapolene contain?

Benzalkonium Chloride Solution 0.02% w/w Equivalent to Benzalkonium Chloride 0.01% w/w Cetrimide 0.2% w/w, white soft paraffin, wool fat, Cetyl Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax, Chlorocresol, Amaranth, Purified Water.

Are there any side effects?

Drapolene cream is normally well tolerated however there can be allergic hypersensitivity reactions which may occur in individuals who are sensitive to one or several components.

Product Warning

You should not apply this cream to your breasts if you are breastfeeding because the baby may take it in with your milk.

This cream is for external use only.
