Product Description
Dymista dual-action nasal spray is licenced for the relief of symptoms of moderate to severe seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.
Fluticasone propionate is a steroid with potent anti-inflammatory action which can take between 7-14 days for full effects.
Azelastine Hydrochloride, an antihistamine can help reduce some of your allergy symptoms within just 15 minutes for rapid relief of your hay fever symptoms.
These two ingredients work together to reduce the symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as:
- Sneezing
- Runny or Blocked Nose
- Cattarh / Post Nasal Drip
So what is allergic rhinitis?
Allergic rhinitis is an inflammation of the lining of the nose caused by an allergen such as pollen, dust, or mould.
In susceptible individuals, when the cells lining the nose are exposed to certain allergens, histamine is released causing swelling, irritation and inflammation. This causes symptoms such as sneezing, itchiness and a blocked or runny nose.
Allergens can vary between individuals but common triggers include pollen, dust, mould or animal skin flakes. The symptoms usually start fairly soon after being exposed to the allergen.
Some people experience symptoms all year round and others may be sensitive to seasonal allergens such as pollen and only experience symptoms for a few weeks at a time.

Side Effects
What side effects could I expect?
Dymista Steroid Nasal Spray is generally well tolerated but the following side effects tend to be the most common:
- Nose bleed
- Headache
- Unpleasant taste - this should go away if you have a soft drink a few minutes after using this medicine
- Unpleasant smell
- Slight irritation of the inside of the nose
- Nasal dryness, cough, dry throat or throat irritation
Systemic side effects (side effects concerning the whole body) may occur when this medicine is used at high doses for a long time. These effects are much less likely to occur if you use a steroid nasal spray than if you take steroids by mouth. These effects may vary in individual patients and between different steroid preparations.
Nasal steroids can affect the normal production of hormones in your body, particularly if you use high doses for a long time. In children and adolescents, this side effect can cause them to grow more slowly than others. In rare cases, a reduction of bone density (osteoporosis) was observed, if nasal steroids were administered long-term.
This list is not exhaustive and for less common side effects please refer to the patient information leaflet.
