What is Neoclarityn?
Neoclarityn the brand name of desloratadine is a new generation non drowsy antihistamine tablet for the management of symptoms associated allergies like hay fever. Hay fever is typically a condition of the summer months caused by exposure to airborne pollen and symptoms will last for weeks. However, hay fever also known by its technical name allergic rhinitis can in fact occur all year round and be caused by exposure to not just pollen but any airborne allergen including moulds.
Typical symptoms of hay fever that the antihistamine Neoclarityn can help manage include:
- Sneezing
- Itchiness
- Blocked or Runny Noe
- Sinus Pressure, discomfort around the nose and cheeks.
- Cough
- Loss of smell
How to take Neoclarityn tablets?
Neoclarityn is long acting and so needs to be taken just once per day. Preferably in the morning swallowed whole with a glass of water. The effectiveness of the medicine is not affected by food.
If you are suffering symptoms of allergies like hay fever for less than 4 days per week or for less than 4 weeks in total you should try stopping this medicine once symptoms are controlled. Treatment can be restarted again if symptoms return. If your symptoms persist then you should use this medicine regularly during times of exposure.

Who should not use Neoclarityn?
This medicine should not be used by the following groups of patients without first seeking medical advice from your GP or our Pharmacist:
- Allergy to any of the ingredients in Neoclarityn
- Under 18 years of age
- Poor kidney function
- History of seizures

Can I use Neoclarityn if I am Pregnant or Breastfeeding? ?
This medicine is NOT suitable for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data. Please speak with your pharmacist or GP for further information.
Driving and using Machinery
This medicine is usually non-drowsy however if you feel sleepy or dizzy please do not drive or operate machinery.
