What is Rhinolast?:
Rhinolast spray is a prescription-strength allergy nasal spray containing the antihistamine Azelastine.
Antihistamines are a group of medicines that help reduce the effects of histamine on the body. Histamine is produced by the body in response to encountering an allergen like pollen or dust.
Rhinolast can help reduce the effects of histamine preventing classic symptoms of allergic rhinitis like sneezing, a runny or blocked nose and itchiness of the nasal passages.
Just a single dose can start working in just 30-60 minutes and can reduce or prevent symptoms for up to 12 hours, but repeated regular use will be required if your nasal passages and sinuses are particularly inflamed.
What is Allergic Rhinitis?:
Allergic rhinitis is caused by exposure to common allergens like dust, moulds and pollen.
Unfortunately, in patients who suffer from hay fever or other allergies the body overreacts to these harmless allergens releasing histamine which ultimately causes the classic symptoms:
- Blocked nose
- Runny nose with watery discharge
- Itchy nose
- Sneezing
Common allergens like Pollen can be subdivided into different types, causing misery to the patient throughout the year. Typically tree pollen is present in the spring, grass pollen tends to be summer and weeds/fungal spores in the late summer.
Who is Rhinolast for?:
Rhinolast is intended for use by adults over 12 years, who have suffered from allergic rhinitis previously.
It is particularly suitable for those who have tried over the counter medicines without success.
It is always, worth trying other allergy products if one doesn’t work for you. If you're stuck give us a call and one of our pharmacists can help you decide.
